that would be a setup error, not a reading error.

Did you setup the software and does it see the HPT cable? No com ports would point me to thinking that its not seeing it or you have a pc issue.

no open com ports huh. if you ask that on hpt they would tell you to search which I am sure would give you the answer.

I know I have seen that one posted before , are you trying to use an aeroforce at the same timeorhave anything else plugged in your usb's ? I am thinking its along those lines

Oh..and you need to join the forum and read until your eyes bleed everyday.

http://www.hptuners.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=35

There's a how to or discussion for nearly everything out there. Start doing the required homework. When you read and read and read and then you think "holy shit, that X makes sense" that's the beginning of understanding what is going on. Another year after that revelation you'll be much closer to knowing how it is all intertwined.

a quick search on hpt forum showed the com ports error when trying to have both the scanner and editor open at the same time or when the drivers werent installed properly - that is usually someone with win 7 64 bit that hasnt used the 64 bit specific driver install tutorial from the stickys - should be in the getting started forum stickys

ok i figured it out.....My drivers werent installed correctly because i have stupid windows vista. They say sometimes when you load the drivers they dont work the first time so you have to uninstall them and then reinstall. It was a pain in the ass process.

yeahh....now my problem is my Vin Number is Different. I have a new PCM that doesnt have my correct Vin Number. When i click change vin number, it says i need a license before i can change the vin. When i try to get a license it says i cant because i dont have matching Vins. Its fucked LOL

It's not fucked. It's inconvenient. HPT matches vin to OSID. Meaning they validate that the software in the pcm will work with the hardware it's loaded on.

Have someone with DHP fix your vin (if the pcm is unlocked.). Then HPT will work fine.

There used to be a stand alone vin changer floating around on clubgp. Try searching the PCM sections there. I might have a copy of it somewhere. If I find it I'll post it up.
